A good picture, it has often been said is worth a thousand words. This is certainly true with the rapidly growing hobby of garden railways where there’s long been a need for a video giving both beginners and dedicated enthusiasts a chance to look at lines not generally open to the public.

Railways In Your Garden looks at six ‘G’ scale and three 16mm narrow gauge layouts. Those just interested in garden railways or dedicated enthusiasts will gain a valuable insight into the ideas and activities of the builders of the lines featured.

The third programme in our series Railways in Your Garden, visits 7 G-scale and 16mm railways and revisits one that has been recently converted to Gauge 3.

We look at a line that has full overhead catenary, one with models of massive wooden trestle bridges found on American logging lines, and another with a run of over 1,200 feet that actually needs video cameras to keep a track of where the trains are. The lines visited are based on a variety of prototypical geographical locations, and range in size from medium suburban gardens to large rural landscapes.
